LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a 4-0 weekend and 7-1 start to the season, the Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team moved up four spots to No. 11 in the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association Division II Top 25.
Mines’ jump follows an undefeated weekend at the Mountain Lion Classic hosted by UCCS in Colorado Springs where the Orediggers swept William Jewell, Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M-International in straight sets. They capped the weekend with a 3-1 victory over then No. 4-ranked Washburn. Taylor Hicken earned MVP honors for her weekend performance and Drew Stokes was also named to the Mountain Lion Classic All-Tournament team.
Additional action at the Colorado Premier hosted by Regis and MSU Denver made for some further changes to the national list. RMAC foe MSU Denver jumped from No. 20 to No. 6 after going undefeated against ranked opposition, and South Central Region rival Angelo State held on to the No. 2 spot despite losing in straight sets to Adams State. Colorado Mesa was the only other ranked team from the RMAC, slotting in at No. 24. Oredigger opponents from earlier this season also made moves as Southwest Minnesota State rose to No. 8 and Washburn climbed from No. 4 to No. 3 following its loss to Mines.
The Orediggers open RMAC play on Thursday by hosting Regis at 7 p.m. inside Lockridge Arena.
